Enable and disable autosave and autofill

Kaspersky Password Manager can automatically save information when you fill out an online form. The application can then fill out online forms for you. You can turn on autosave and autofill for accounts, addresses, and bank cards.

When autosave is enabled, each time you enter a new password, address, or bank card details on a website, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to save them in your vault.

Enable and disable autosave and autofill

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the General section.
  5. In the Autosave and autofill section, choose the types of data for which you want to enable/disable autosave and autofill by selecting/deselecting the corresponding checkboxes.

    By default, the Logins and passwords, Addresses and Bank cards checkboxes are selected.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Select a default browser

You can select a default browser for Kaspersky Password Manager. All websites opened from the main application window will be opened in this browser. If you do not set up a default browser, the application opens websites in the default browser selected in your operating system.

Change the default browser

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the Browsers section.
  5. In the Default browser section, select a browser.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Install Kaspersky Password Manager extensions

Kaspersky Password Manager lets you install extensions for all installed browsers. When you install a new browser supported by Kaspersky Password Manager, the browser will appear in the Browsers section and you can install the extension for the browser. You can also install browser extensions manually.

The design theme of the Kaspersky Password Manager extension automatically adapts to the theme of the browser.

Install the Kaspersky Password Manager extension

  1. Close all browsers.
  2. Open the main application window.
  3. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  4. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  5. Select the Browsers section.
  6. In the Supported browsers section, click Install extension next to the browser.

Kaspersky Password Manager cannot automatically turn off browser’s built-in password manager. Please manually turn off autosave and autofill settings in your browser to avoid performance issues in the Kaspersky Password Manager extension.

Specifics about browser extensions

Kaspersky Password Manager lets you install extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Yandex.Browser and other Chromium-based browsers if these browsers are installed on the computer.

Mozilla Firefox

When installing the extension for Mozilla Firefox, you will be asked to give your consent to collect and process data. Otherwise, you will not be able to use the extension.

Also, there will be a non-mandatory option that can help us improve our products and services by enabling the collection of usage statistics. If you have turned on this option and then change your decision, you can turn it off in the extension settings.

Turn off/on collection of usage statistics

  1. Open a browser with the Kaspersky Password Manager extension installed.
  2. In the browser toolbar, click the application icon .

    The Kaspersky Password Manager extension menu opens.

  3. Click three vertical dots at the upper-right corner of the extension menu and turn off/on the Provide data on how you use the application (anonymously) option on the Extras page.

Microsoft Edge Legacy

The outdated version of this browser, Microsoft Edge Legacy, is no longer supported.

Remove the unsupported extension from your computer

  1. Open Microsoft Edge Legacy browser.
  2. In the upper-right corner, right-click the Kaspersky Password Manager shortcut.
  3. In the context menu, select Manage.

    The About window opens.

  4. Click Uninstall at the bottom of the window.

    The removal of the extension starts.

You can also remove the extension through the Add or remove programs section of the Control Panel.

Ignore websites

You can specify websites for which you do not want Kaspersky Password Manager to automatically save information or fill out online forms.

Add a website to ignored from the extension

  1. In a browser with the Kaspersky Password Manager extension installed, open the website that you want to add to the list of ignored websites.
  2. Enter your credentials and sign in to your account.

    Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to save this account.

  3. At the upper-right corner of the window, click the three vertical dots and select Do not ask for this site.

The website is added to the list of ignored websites.

Add a website to ignored from the main application window

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the Ignored websites section.
  5. Enter the web address that you want to add to the list of ignored websites and click the plus button Add.

The website is added to the list of ignored websites.

Fast hotkey credentials search

The fast hotkey credentials search feature allows you to immediately open a credentials list from any place in Windows and paste a selected item to the form. It works with browser and web accounts as well as with Windows applications. To start using the feature, do the following:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the Advanced section.
  5. In the Fast hotkey credentials search section, set a hotkey combination and check the box Enable fast hotkey search by pressing.

Your changes will be saved automatically.

Now you can open a credentials list by pressing the hotkey combination you have set. Use arrows to move through the list. Press Enter, to paste login to previous window. Press Ctrl + Enter, to paste password or copy data from the selected cell by double mouse click.

If the password you need is not listed, use the search field.

Log application events

You may need to collect and submit technical information about application errors to Customer Service. Kaspersky Password Manager lets you write information about application events to log files. By default, the application saves these files on your device in the folder named %ProgramData%\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Password Manager 24.0\Logs. The names of files contain their creation date and time.

Enable logging of application events

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the Advanced section.
  5. In the Track issues section, select the Log application events checkbox.

Logging of application events is now enabled.

Export the application settings to a file

You can export Kaspersky Password Manager settings to a file using the Command Prompt. Exported settings are stored in an XML file with a high-integrity mandatory label.

Export the application settings using the Command Prompt

  1. Quit Kaspersky Password Manager.
  2. Start the Command Prompt as an administrator.
  3. Enter cd "<Kaspersky Password Manager installation folder>"

    For example, cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Password Manager 9.0.0"

  4. Enter kpm.exe –ExportSettings="<path to an XML file>"

    For example, kpm.exe –ExportSettings="C:\Backup\kpm_settings.xml"

The application settings are exported to the file you specified.

Configure proxy server settings

If you use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, specify the proxy server settings for Kaspersky Password Manager. By default, Kaspersky Password Manager automatically configures proxy server settings.

Configure a proxy server connection

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the Advanced section.
  5. In the Proxy server section, click Settings.

    The Proxy server window opens.

  6. Do one of the following:
    • If you don't use a proxy server to connect to the Internet, select Do not use proxy server.
    • If you want the application to automatically configure proxy server settings, select Detect proxy server settings automatically.
    • To specify proxy server settings manually, select Use specified proxy server settings.
      1. Specify the address and port used to connect to the proxy server.
      2. If connecting to the proxy server requires authentication, select the Use proxy server authentication checkbox.
      3. Specify the user name and password for connecting to the proxy server.
  7. Click OK.

Sign out of your My Kaspersky account

All devices connected to the same My Kaspersky account have access to and sync with the same cloud storage. If you want to use a different vault, sign out and then sign in with another My Kaspersky account.

Sign out of your My Kaspersky account

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the opened menu, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the General section.
  5. In the My Kaspersky account section, click Sign out.

All unsaved changes to the vault will be discarded. The Sign in to My Kaspersky window opens. In this window, you can sign in to another My Kaspersky account.

Change the application design theme

You can select a color theme for the user interface of the application.

Change the application theme

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click Application menu in the lower part of the main application window.
  3. In the menu that opens, click Settings.

    The application settings open.

  4. Select the Advanced section.
  5. In the Design theme section, choose one of the following options:
    • Same as the operating system. The current operating system theme is used.
    • Light. The light application theme is used.
    • Dark. The dark application theme is used.

Notifications in Game and Do Not Disturb mode

If you have Kaspersky Password Manager installed on your device together with Kaspersky and Game mode or Do Not Disturb mode is enabled, Kaspersky Password Manager notifications are not displayed when running an application in full-screen mode, playing a game, using a video chat, or watching a movie. After you exit Game mode or Do Not Disturb mode, Kaspersky Password Manager shows you all the notifications about events that occurred while you were busy. Messages about events that are no longer relevant are not shown.
