Change the main password
For security reasons, we recommend that you change your main password on a regular basis. If you suspect that your main password has been compromised, change it immediately.
It's impossible to change your main password if:
- Automatic sync is disabled.
- There is no internet connection.
The main password was changed on another device and it's not synced with the device you're currently using to change the password. Please, sync all your devices first.
- Open the main application window.
- Click
in the lower part of the main application window.
- In the opened menu, click Settings.
The application settings open.
- Select the General section.
- In the Main password section, click Change main password.
The Change main password window opens.
- Enter your current main password and a new main password.
Kaspersky Password Manager automatically checks the strength of your password and displays an exclamation mark if the password strength is low or medium.
- In the Confirm new main password field, enter the new main password again.
- Click Done.
The main password is changed. After synchronization, the main password will be changed on all your devices.
If the main password was changed on another device
If the main password was changed on another device, you will be asked to re-enter the new main password on all your devices to sync data.
- After the main password is changed on another device, the Data is not synced dialog appears on the device you're currently using.
- Click Enter main password.
- In the Data is not synced window, enter the new main password and click Sync.
- If you do not remember the new main password, click I don't know the main password link.
The Unsynced data on this device will be lost window opens.
- If you click the Sync button, data in the vaults of other devices will be replaced with data from this device.
- To confirm this operation, you need to enter the verification code that was emailed to you and click Confirm.
