Unlock the vault
Kaspersky Password Manager automatically blocks access to the vault after a specified period of inactivity or when the screen saver turns on. By default, the vault is locked automatically after your computer has been idle for 24 hours. If the vault is locked, Kaspersky Password Manager functions are unavailable.
Unlock the vault from the main application window
- Open the main password entry window in one of the following ways:
- Double-click the application icon on your desktop.
- In the taskbar notification area, right-click the application icon and select Unlock.
- In the Main password field, enter your main password.
- Click Unlock.
The vault is now unlocked. The main application window opens.
Unlock the vault from the browser extension
- Open a browser with the Kaspersky Password Manager extension installed.
- In the browser toolbar, click the application icon
.
The Kaspersky Password Manager extension menu opens.
- In the Main password field, enter the main password.
- Click Unlock.
Your vault is now unlocked.
Unlock the vault with Windows Hello
You can use Windows Hello to unlock your vault if this sign-in option is enabled in your operating system. The ability to sign in with Windows Hello is available after you successfully unlock your vault using your main password and turn on the Unlock the vault with Windows Hello option.
Every time you restart your computer, you must first enter your main password and then you can use Windows Hello.
- Open the main password entry window in one of the following ways:
- Double-click the application icon on your desktop.
- In the taskbar notification area, right-click the application icon and select Unlock.
- In the Main password field, enter your main password.
- Click Unlock.
The main application window opens.
- Click
in the lower part of the main application window.
- In the opened menu, click Settings.
The application settings open.
- Select the General section.
- In the Unlock the vault with Windows Hello section, turn on the switch.
- If Windows Hello is not set up in the operating system, configure it by clicking the Open Windows Hello settings button and perform these steps again.
The Sign in with Windows Hello option will be available in the next login session.
- Open the main application window.
- Click
in the lower part of the main application window.
- In the opened menu, click Settings.
The application settings open.
- Select the General section.
- In the Security section, configure the autolock settings.
- If you want Kaspersky Password Manager to remind you to unlock the vault, when you visit websites with online forms, select the Prompt to unlock the vault if a website has login and password fields checkbox.
Your changes will be saved automatically.
You can also unlock the vault from the application icon ().
