Safe Messaging checks links you receive in instant messages via WhatsApp, Viber, and Telegram.
When you receive a link to a malicious or spoofed website in an instant message, the app blocks the link and displays an alert window in the browser.
Safe Messaging only blocks links in Google Chrome. To protect yourself from dangerous links in instant messages, set Google Chrome as your default browser.
This feature may also work with the pre-installed browsers on some devices, for example, Samsung Internet on a Samsung device. Other browsers are not supported.
Links that you receive in Telegram may open in its in-app browser by default. Safe Messaging doesn't support that browser. To make sure that links you open in Telegram are being checked, turn off the In-App Browser. Go to Telegram > Settings > Chat Settings and scroll down to In-App Browser. Tap the toggle switch to turn off the In-App Browser.
